I'm thinking of moving to cary from yes Jersey like everyone else. When I do I'm thinking of opening up a Specialty Italian Store, with all imported foods meat, cheeses, pasta's. Homemade fresh mozzerella, homemade sausage and butcher shop. Prepared foods also. All authentic products. My question is can the area support that kind of store or is it already saturated with Italian food?
Thanks for your comments, I look foward to serving all of you.
There are two stores in Cary/Morrisville that I know of that would overlap with what you are thinking. One is Capri Flavors Capri Flavors :: Fine Italian Food . It is a wholesaler and the retail operation is very small, but it has a lot of imports and is all authentic. I also know there is a store in downtown Cary associated with Ciao Wine Bar called Ciao Mercato, but I've only been to the wine bar. The owner is Italian so I believe it also stocks authentic goods. Ciao Mercato

I have a client that moved here from NJ that would love you if you did that. She is always saying she misses the Italian food in NJ. Let us know if you do decide to do that.
Please come, Italians are way too underrepresented here for my taste!
Although I wish you had added pastries to the list of items you'll be selling.
Anyone know where I can get a "lobster claw" around here? (obviously not the crustacean, but the cream-filled ninth wonder of the world....)
I think that's a great idea! I went to Ciao mercato and found out it had been closed for about 3 years, the wine bar is still open however. By the way, the wine bar owner or manager was the only "rude" person I have met in Cary....
Hi! I lived in Cary for two years and now live in Raleigh. After visiting Italy twice in two years, we are now looking for a good Italian market. We tried Capri Flavors and it was great. I believe the lady there runs cooking classes. We met her and she was very nice. We bought some pasta and sauce there. We just found Conti's this weekend and it was great! We don't cook a lot so it was great to have a selection of meats for sandwiches, plus they had premade authentic Italian street food: paninis and porchetta! They also had a selection of gelato! Those two things were some of our favorite things to eat in Italy. Now if only we could find a supply of blood orange juice, air popped chips, and authentic pizza. So far the best pizza we've found is Venero's Pizzeria in Clayton, they have a mobile unit at the flea market every weekend (where we found them). If they used just a little less cheese and added some fresh buffalo mozzerella - perfetto!
I digress... I think it would be great to have another Italian shop in the area!
Walk-ins and catering should keep you afloate in the Triangle.
