wandering if there are any community pools and how the streets are for running and cycling . .??? Looking forward to hearing from the Claytonites out there . . would you recommend this city?
As a former triathlete, I don't think I'd look at Clayton. I think you'd find a stronger training community and options in Raleigh, Cary, Chapel Hill or Durham. That's just my 2 cents.
You might also check Wake Forest. Heritage hosted their first Triathlon to benefit the Smile Train last summer and I believe it is planned to be an annual event.
I did a triathlon in clayton last year... at Riverwood golf & athletic club. The pool was nice at Riverwood, and the roads are much more rural & hilly then Raleigh of course, much less traffic so that was nice. The roads were open during the tri and there were only a few cars that I saw. The scenery out on the bike course was beautiful...and that is the only part of Clayton I have seen!
