We drove through Briar Chapel and really liked it. My husband works in South Raleigh near NC state and I know about routes from Briar Chapel to I 40 via 15-501 and Briar Chapel to Hwy 64. I was wondering if there were backroads from Briar Chapel to 40 that would be quicker than the 15-501 to I 40 route.

Briar Chapel reminds me of the mountains. Rolling hills, plenty of outdoor recreation, natural areas. The community wouldn't appeal to a lot of people, but my husband and I personally like walking the dogs and mountain biking in our spare time, so this community sounds perfect for us. Twenty-four miles of trails! There's even a trail head at the start of the community...since you could get lost with all the trails. There is a competitive mountain biking trail as well. Two huge pools with water slides for kids, county school, outdoor amphitheater, 66 acre community park with basketball courts/baseball fields, etc....and many more amenites. 900 acres left untouched.

The houses we could afford are the Mcneil-burbank. They built the cottage style homes in bedford that are on postage sized lots. I would live on a postage sized lot with all the amenities briar chapel offers.

I wish it was closer to Raleigh, but maybe it is depending on the route.

from: 16 Windy Knoll Circle, Chapel Hill, NC 27516 (Briar Chapel) to: Yarborough Dr, Raleigh, NC 27607 - Google Maps

15-501 to I40. He will be driving in the opposite direction of the heavy traffic both times of the day so should be a pretty quick drive. 10.6 miles on 501. 19.5 miles on I40. 5.2 miles on Wade + Faircloth + Hillsborough. A little under 40 minutes.

I'd do the above over 501 to 64.

True with respect to I-40, but the 54 bypass (15-501/54) and NC54 get quite congested in both directions morning and evening. Of the three I-40 exits for Chapel Hill, the NC54 exit is the most congested.

He has to be at work at 7:30 a.m and leaves work at 4:00 pm. We live in Apex currently and doesn't run into any traffic during these times. Maybe it would be the same in Chapel Hill?
