Any funky thrift stores in the Triangle? My lady and i are moving into our new house next week and need to decorate! Not interested in large clothing selection or if they have a bunch of old TVs and crockpots. Looking more for decoration or pictures maybe some side tables or coffee tables. Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill, wherever

Durham Rescue Mission Thrift Stores are pretty big so that gives you a lot to look at. I've been to the one on Glenwood many times and the one on Business 15-501. Sometimes they have a lot of junk in there, but you never know. You have to go often to get the good stuff and hope you hit it when they are just putting stuff out. Another idea is the landfill on Eubanks Road in Chapel Hill. They have an area where people dispose of things they don't want and they are free for the taking. My husband loves to "shop" there!

All of the habitat stores are great. For slightly higher end, I like Father and Sons, Finds, and Gremlina for mid century modern furniture.

Trosa in Durham usually has a lot of furniture pieces. The store is huge because it used to be a Wal-Mart.

For "funky", this is absolutely the best answer!

I think I noticed that they may have moved recently. Not sure if that is correct, but be sure to check their current location if you are used to visiting them.

They are not the cheapest, but they have all sorts of retro stuff; furniture, fixtures, art, (cloths), and "doo-dads". Very eclectic, cool stuff.

Another vote for Father & Sons!

Yes they recently moved (or are in the process of moving?). Check to see if the new location is open yet.

Right on, will definitely be hitting Father and Sons this weekend and potentially Scrap Exchange as well! Thanks all!
