Hi. I'm considering applying to Duke as an IT Analyst or Database Analyst. Their pay scales are only available internally. Can anyone give me a range for these positions?

One of my friends used to work for Duke. Entry level range is 60k-65k.

I just applied for an analyst (level 12) position and when I told them what I made during the interview ($65k) she said the rate was substantially lower... I assumed $50k or so.

This sounds high to me, based on my experience working at Duke and having friends who worked in IT there.

That seems more believable for an entry level position. I just got a job offer for an IT position at a college in South Carolina. They could not do better than $30,000, so unfortunately I had to decline it. I'm not quite sure of how the cost of living compares between the two areas, but I know I'd be living paycheck to paycheck at $30,000.

i applied for a number of jobs there in biotech (mid-level and entry level), and the range seemed to be 30s to low 40s. i wasn't impressed. the benefits are nice, though.

I believe a Level 12 IT Analyst makes in the mid 50s. 60-65K for an IT Analyst sounds a bit high, but could be possible if the person worked there for several years, but definitely not entry level.

My friend had a masters degree in computer science with 2 years of experience. He was still considered entry level by Duke. His salary was 64k to be exact. That used to be the norm at least a couple of years ago. Not sure how it is today with the economic downturn.
