Are there different versions of the realtor.com website? The reason why I ask is because when I access the realtor.com site from work, I have more options (e.g. recently sold, off market, etc) than I can see at home. I've checked everything that I can think of down to the java version and everything is identical between the two computers I'm using (at work and home). The only difference is obviously the network/ip that I'm coming from. Since I work at a University, I think that it somehow recognizes my ip and allows more access? Does anyone know if my assumption of different access levels to realtor.com is true? TIA

Very odd, only thing I can think of would be security level on your hm computer is higher? I'm not a gear head and dont know why this would be. I don't know of different access levels....

Are you sure you're looking at Realtor.com on both computers? I know Zillow will show "recently sold" etc...inaccurate but the option is there on Zillow and Trulia.....just a thought.

There may be cookies that have tracked both your ip address and your searches. Realtor.com, just like ebay, facebook, amazon.com, and many other sites may customize presentation based upon stored cookies and history. However, that is just a swag on my part. I certainly don't know for sure.

It drives me crazy that I can't figure this out (given my profession in IT). Thanks for all of your responses, I've eliminated security levels as I've compared both machines as well as different browsers. Additionally, I've eliminated the cookie issue as I never use Internet Explorer and I can still reproduce the issue in that browser. I guess this will be harder to figure out than I thought, but I was just hoping that someone in the industry may have some knowledge of how realtor.com serves up it's content. The search continues!

I didn't think of this earlier but there are some sites where I get different user appearance depending upon which browser I am using. I regularly use Firefox but do notice that some sites appear differently when I use a system with I.E.

Ok, so I found the answer to my problem! I actually went ahead and emailed their customer support dept. for a resolution. Apparently realtor.com is rolling out an updated site, which is still in beta right now, and only about 10% of their traffic is routed there. Since I work at a major university, I guess most of the traffic from our ISP is routed to the new site (probably due to the bandwidth that we are registered for). So if you were curious as to how the new site looks, check it out at Find Real Estate Listings, School and Neighborhood Information and More - Realtor.com --that's if you weren't one of the lucky ones who was already being routed to the beta site. Problem solved! Thank you everyone for your feedback and suggestions!

Thanks. I noticed that the same searches that got me plenty of results were all coming up blank the last few days on realtor.com and I had to search on zillow. This change is probably why.
