My husband and I have an appt with an inspector, but the owners are still living in the home and some of the bedrooms and garage were quite junky. I'm afraid he won't be able to really inspect the interior with so much clutter still in it. Is it possible for him to give us an accurate report with a fully furnished home?

If an inspector can't see or reach something to inspect it they won't put it in the report. That being said even in a vacant house there are aspects of the house they won't inspect. I don't know how it is in your state, but in MA an inspector won't disassemble anything to inspect (they'll take the cover off the circuit panel but that's it).
Please express your concern to your inspector. In a "normal" market most homes are fully occupied and therefore not every square foot of the house and garage is visible/inspectable. Even over cluttered homes used to be a pretty common inspection environment. If you find an unusual condition after the house is vacant, you can have the inspector go back and check that out albeit it may be after the close of escrow. A good, diligent inspector will hopefully be able to get a good sense of how things are in general and they may find concerns like an abnormal amount of damage, staining or patchwork in other areas that might lead you to believe some are concealed for instance....
