I don't think there are any legal issues since it's my house but does it seem creepy to use the baby video cameras we have to watch/listen as people go through our house? This would help us figure out what people don't like in order to fix it, almost like they do on those tv shows.

You really don't want to know what people are saying. If they decide to make an offer it will be hard to keep emotions out of it.

Yup...creepy. If you want to be there to answer question or receive feedback that's one thing....but don't spy.

If you are going to do it, post a notice on the door that there is video surveillance inside the house.

There was a thread about something similar where an agent was caught on video opening dresser drawers or something. I mentioned that I thought it was creepy to have been secretly recording people in the house even if, in this case, it worked out to catch a thief. I still think it is creepy but, if you do it, I'd agree with at least posting a notice or, at the very least, don't review the video unless there is a theft but don't do it to spy. The fabric of our society has already slipped too far into the dumper without giving it a further boost.

I dont think it'd be fair for you to know their buying plans. What if they discuss how much they'll offer and how high they'll go if you counter? Good for you, but sucks for them. Totally unfair advantage, imo. They should feel free to say what they want about your home and their plans. If you want to make sure they're not stealing from you, then be there.

if they find out they will likely be upset and leave quickly, never to return. You could lose a buyer that was serious until they discovered the intercom was 'on'.

The best thing you can do is be out of the house when buyers show up. Let them have their freedom to discuss the pros and cons of the home with the real estate agent.

I made several trips to one home that interested me and the couple was always standing there in front of the fireplace like June and Ward Cleaver. They had expressions on their faces that sent the message, "Well, do ya like it? Whaddaya think? Do ya wanna buy it?" I felt like I was bringing home my high school girlfriend to meet my parents.

When potential buyers come with the agents, go out to a movie or get a cup of Joe at Starbucks. Don't stick around. And definitely ditch the camera idea.
