If it's in a smaller town, I would put up flyers in the local grocery store. They always have a bulletin board. If there's a couple major employers, get someone who works there to put up a flyer on their bulletin board. And talk it up. The more people who know it's for sale, the better.
Hold an open house, even if it's just for the neighbors. When they come, just chat them up and see if they have a friend/relative/friend-of-a-friend's-cousin that is interested in moving.
So besides newspapers, the mls, and craigslist...how else should I market my FSBO?
If it's a starter home, I would make up flyers and deliver to every apartment building near you.
I would make up an open house invitation and give to all my neighbors. Say "snacks will be served" to get 'em to come. Often friends and neighbors find a buyer for you.
Flyer up in the local and surrounding town libraries
Ads in the local paper are cheap. Here in NJ my local paper charged $30 for an ad with a picture.
My friend made magnetic posters for the side of her and her husband's car (I think it cost around $200). Pretty neat advertising.
Hold a garage sale. Crazy but a huge sign saying "house also for sale" could find a buyer. My Aunt and Uncle bought their house at a garage sale!

This is very true, especially with neighbors. What type of residents that move into the neighborhood could have effects on them, one way or another....
