I have been looking at property in or near the Oregon and Washington coast for some time now. It doesn't appear that prices are dropping that much compared to many other places in the US. Granted these are desirable areas where people will pay to live in paradise but I'm not really sure what to expect and hesitate to buy while prices are settling. I'd really like to hear from you out there "in the know" on what is happening with real estate prices out there. I'm looking at Anacortes, Sequim, Florence and Brookings primarily but am open to other places along the coast as well. Thanks in advance for your insight and feel free to e-mail me with any info or websites that might help.
I have a friend who lives in Coos Bay, OR and who has done extremely well investing in homes down there, including on waterfront. She tends to buy pre-foreclosures, etc. and buy way under assessed value. She says home prices are definitely dropping, and I'd expect them to continue to go down at least the first half of this year so if that location is interesting to you that might be a place to check out.
Thanks Teamirene. I had thought about that but admit my cluelessness on how to go about it. I need to get smart on this.
