How long were you house hunting before you found your home? And how long was it from finding your home to moving day?

Just curious, thanks!

Looked seriously (actually going on house visits and not just the internet) for about 2 months. A little over 2 months from accepted offer to move in date. But we actually closed a month earlier than that. Used a month to do some work on the house.

I've been waiting for this question.......this is so embarrasing! Looked for about 2 1/2 years, yes........years. Found this house and offer was accepted on March 14th, closed on May 14th (short sale that original buyers got tired of waiting and walked.

Yes....I am a professional buyer! Made LOTS of offers and in hind sight I am beyond happy none of them panned out. My realtor saved me from myself more than once.

This is the house I was meant to own. Moving day June 9th!

We started looking in November (so ~7 months ago) and have been outbid about 5 times. We finally entered into escrow on a home in late March. Now, 73 days later we are hoping to close tomorrow!

For first time home buyers, this has been an absolute roller coaster for my GF and me. A tremendous learning experience and frankly, I REALLY HOPE WE CLOSE TOMORROW!

Good luck to everyone out there.

This house? We bought the third house we saw (out of 12 that we saw on a weekend house hunting trip). We spent months looking online, but only had 2 days to find a house while physically viewing them.

We made our offer on January 21 and closed on March 12.

I have seen people look for extended periods of time, at way too many homes, for several reasons:
1. they don't understand the market and are unrealistic about what their dollars will buy for them
2. they are not willing to compromise
3. they haven't thought through their wish list of what is most important and what they might be able to do without
4. they work with agents who don't LISTEN to what they want.

It is my belief that you can never SELL someone a home...just help them find it. Further, it is most important that you sit down in a quiet place and think seriously about the things that you MUST have in your home. You'll find out that the list is probably not as long as what you would have guessed.

At the end of the day, I further believe that everyone winds up in the home that you were destined for. When the first deal doesn't work out...don't worry...something better is right around the corner.

Good luck!
