Flour, sugar, butter are the main ingredients. It's hard to add vegetables
Eggs, milk are usually very small % hardly to count on for the health benefits.

If you are making them from scratch that is a lot better than the alternative. I try to stick to one cookie in the evening and I think that helps, too...everything in moderation etc.

Are peanut butter cookies any better? I am not sure but I prefer those.

Good cookies are not healthy for the body but they feed the soul (uh yeah, that's it, I'm sticking to my story).

I'll pass on healthy cookies. They tend to be heavy and dry.

How about some pumpkin squares?

I used to know somebody who made chocolate chip cookies with fresh chiles. They were good, but I prefer them without.

Make substitutions like whole grain flour, other sources of sugar, you can add veggies/fruit like carrots, sweet potatoes, zucchini, apple sauce, etc. You just have to find the recipes or inspiration.

I love cookies. Like seriously love cookies. I've been called a cookie monster. I have this t-shirt. 'Nuff said.

Now, I've tried to make those healthy cookies, those ones with applesauce instead of oil or whatever. They tasted like drywall. (Or what I assume drywall tastes like.) I made them again, but I added chocolate chips and dried cranberries. Still disgusting. I tried it a third time, with more chocolate chips. It didn't help. I tossed the rest of the applesauce, ate the chocolate chips from the bag, and called it a failed experiment.

I'm not a baker. I just don't enjoy the process. So when I want to make homemade cookies, these are the ones that I make. You don't even need a mixer (I don't have one) -- I've recently done it a couple of times just with a spoon and it works perfectly. They're a very forgiving cookie. Are they healthy? No, but they're a good treat and very surely not the worst-for-you cookies.

Make oatmeal cookies. Put some dried fruit and nuts into them. Limit how many you eat every day.

You can add a couple tablespoons of dried milk and some wheat germ.

A home made oatmeal cookie is probably better for you than a commercially made granola bar.

I second oatmeal cookies, though I do like mine with chocolate chips.

You can usually cut back a bit on the sugar and sub a white whole wheat flour or mix regular and whole wheat flour. As others have noted a homemade cookies is always better than store bought or a mix.

Cookies aren't meant to be anything but sweet treats.
No-one wishes they ate more celery sticks on their deathbed.

I make an oatmeal bar that I love (YMMV), and add fruits, nuts, things like flax and chia seeds, protein powder.

I recently made a zucchini loaf that was a very pleasant surprise.... no flour but used almond "flour", it was super dense and moist. Great if you are on a low carb...
