So I don't think I've ever tried making soup. probably because I'm the only soup eater out of the bunch.

Anyway I found a good crab bisque recipe that I want to try.

Lobster Or Crab Bisque Recipe - Genius Kitchen

do you think I could simply halve the recipe as to not make as much?

Thanks

That looks like it would half really easily/well, the hardest part being adding the chicken stock to the roux (just the small volume, maybe it's an issue I have and not a problem for others).

IMHO, soups are about the most forgiving of items to cook. The biggest issue is over-cooking veggies, no one (with teeth) likes mushy veggies.

0f course you can and should. What is wrong with the family not eating soup? That's not even American.

Soup opens up a whole new world of cooking....I have a soup cookbook, plus, there is a never-ending list of recipes, and many use only one pot,

what I call "a one-pot wonder"...

Agree--this looks like a recipe that can be easily halved.

I love making soups--with enough veggies (and whole grains like rice or barley), they can be a complete meal by themselves.

Wouldn't that kind of soup freeze well? If so, make the full recipe and freeze the leftover in individual portions, thaw, and reheat, stirring to prevent curdling.

If left to my own devices, I'd live on soups, stews, and chili.

I'll bet if you made the whole recipe, someone in your bunch would help you finish it. I know my bunch would.

Yep. I'm definitely a fan of a one-pot food situation.
