just saw a thread in the parenting section about "free range parenting", and how do you deal with the "helicopter parents' disdain". WTF?! I don't know what either means, but the labels freak me out. I need a Xanax, now.
When MM said that forum was scary, I went to check it out and saw this thread. My understanding in short is: free-range - the old-fashioned way we were raised; helicopter - too protective, controlling, and suffocating parenting.
Believe it or not, one of the most entertaining (and at times, nastiest) boards I've ever been to is a dog behavior board. LOL
I just can't see that as a nasty topic, unless some dog started posting on there.
"...so my Master yanks the leash. I turn around and say "WTF?!?"..."

I think there are a lot of people here who really need to just grow the eff up. If a thread is too offensive, don't read it!
Well, as I understand it there are many legal issues these days that didn't exist back when I was a tadpole on the Net. Everyone is afraid of lawsuits and such, but it does seem to kill the flow at certain times.
And that's all I'm saying on the topic, so that I don't get into any more trouble here.
Really? That'd be my kind of forum! I'm a big girl and I don't need anybody to "protect" me or fight my battles.
I used to have a lot of fun on such a forum in the past. It didn't even require registration! Then crap started creeping in... At first it started requiring registration, then moderators showed up, then using our alphabet became mandatory... until all the fun people said "the hell with it" and the forum went right there. You know how it is... "first they came for the Jews"... And mind you, we're talking a foreign forum! Here... I don't believe a forum like this would exist anymore.
