As a man, I think it's a reasonable request. She has requests I fulfill to enhance her experience, too. And lingerie is pretty mundane in the scheme of things. So unless she has "issues" about sex - or sex with her significant other for valid reasons - then I can't see why it should be a big deal.
Negative. If he would want something different he should talk about it and bring a catalog. Then I would give options to him. It is offensive to just bring some huuray-stuff without asking. And he would not even know what type of clothing fits to my body shape... And of course he would have to wear someting sexy too .

Depends on how it looked on me, and if it even fit. Few men can pull that off.
We usually shop together. Anything we get both fits and flatters her. And now I certainly know her size and tastes, so can buy things she'll like. This isn't rocket science!
It depends on the lingerie. If it something I find vulgar, tacky and cheap then Hubby would not be in my good books as he ought to know what I like !
It should be for both of us and hopefully if you are a couple you have similar tastes in what is "sexy" and what isn't. Buy me a chratreuse fake lace Basque or Purple babydoll and I shall not be a happy camper.
Something tasteful , sexy and luxurious like satin and silk and real lace and then the reaction will be a lot different.
Quality and good taste yes, cheapo and nasty no.
Not that most men have any idea what size their spouse is. I have actually seen a guy in a Lingerie shop doing the "roughly that size" with his hands that you see in comedy sketches.
Buy it too small and she will be upset and embarassed that she can't fit in it , too large she will be devastated to be thought of as heftier than she is ! I think it is a really delicate operation !

If it is not figure-flattering, I would try to make some alterations to make it look a little better. If it looks good on, I will ask for another in a different color
I would wear it if I picked it out. But usually the stuff boys pick out is god awful
