I've seen this done to me, a few times in the last year (or saying she just wants to be friends after a few dates). When people do this on emails, it's bad enough...however, there are a few circumstances where I can see that..even though, good parents teach kids, you should handle this at least over the phone.....
if you've done this what were you thinking? Is this just something that's cool along the 25 and younger crowd? (even though the women I've had the pleasureof running into are in a couple of cases 50 or older)......
how would you like it if your job told you you were fired via a text?
People have, generally speaking, the same attachment to someone they're dating
Tiger Woods is rumored to have done this, and look what kind of rep he has as a person....

Wow. That's pretty contemptible. If you lack the basic guts or consideration to pick up the phone or do it in person, then you really don't deserve to be involved with anyone.

That being said, if you've had this done to you several times in the past year, then I would seriously contemplate the quality of person you choose to date.

I've never heard of anyone in the 25 and younger crowd refer to it as something acceptable to do, nor have I ever done it myself (and nobody I know has done this, either.)

The problem with texting is that it allows a person time to think of exactly the right way to say something, or plausible deniability ("You texted me? That's strange, I never got it..."). I think that breaking up over a text is probably the most cowardly thing I can think of someone doing relationship-wise.. it relays to the other person that you don't think they're dignified enough to grace them with a face-to-face talk or at least a phone call (both of which take place in real time)

Now, I did say that I've never heard of anyone my age thinking it's acceptable, common, or even actually doing it, but I am sure that people do it anyway.

Yes. But if you are really so hard up for a relationship, then you might want to consider that all your assumptions in life about relationships have pretty much stunk. Just sayin'.

19 is still old enough to know better. It's a matter of character, not age. Sorry.

Anyone who would break off a relationship via text is:

1. Under 25, immature, clueless and a loser.

2. Not really in a relationship at all.

Because anyone with the slightest semblance of class, intelligence or being in love would NEVER break up with someone through a text. They see them in person and break it off in that manner. If there are exceptions to this, I sure as hell can't think of any.

A person who breaks up with someone in a text was never in love or remotely in love to begin with.
