I am curious, heres a question to those who say her vagina is the only reason she's made it: can you get into, and perform well, at Yale? And could you do it at an equally prestigious university at which nothing is taught in your mother tongue?
That's where the stereotype does not fit and it highlights clear bigotry. It doesn't matter that she's from China. It does matter that she's bright and beautiful. There is no doubt this guy could have any old bimbo, but that's not what she is.

That's a likes with likes scenerio if I ever saw one. Murdoch and Heffner are good comparison to highlight this norm. Heffner is porno and he couples with porno. Murdoch is business intelligentsia and that's who he coupled with.

However, I'm sure it comes as no surprise to most that attending a prestigious university does not confer on anyone a sense of right and wrong (viz. Wall Street and Washington).
I guess a great research topic would be -- why do so many alums and attendees of prestigious universities turn out to be sleazy in a whole range of ways later in life?
I guess we get to add Ms. Deng to the list of Ivy League grads who not only act with dishonor, but lash out with physical violence (still waiting for justice served -- or is punching someone okay if a woman does it?).

I can't blame folk for giving her crap, but to give her crap for slapping a guy that was going to throw something at her husband? Maybe the law should step in, but on a personal level, I take no issue with it. Any man or woman that raised a hand to my husband would probably be in a serious world of hurt. It would be far more than a slap. Her not getting lawful repercussions most likely has to do with their power.
What's interesting after skimming that article, is that the MO here goes beyond the stereotype of a mail order bride; a woman simply looking to be taken care with a better lifestyle than can be found in her own country. A lifestyle that could also be considered meager by many of us. What this lady is doing goes far beyond that. The gold she appears to be after is more than money.
She was also seeking power and the ability to learn under the wing of one of the most powerful men in the world.
People are taking offense to the fact that Wendi Deng is being compared to a mail order bride and is being identified (and correctly so) as a gold digger. But she is what she is....just on a much more grand scale than the average foreign woman who marries a Western man for access to a better life. The only thing that separates Wendi Deng from mail order brides is that she was skilled enough to persuade/convince Jake Cherry and his then wife to sponsor her for an education visa in the US but had this not happened, Wendi would have advertised herself in one of the mail order bride publications to be able to gain entry into America (and then would have followed a similar path to land a very wealthy husband)
The woman was nothing less than ambitious and set a vey high goal in terms of what type of man she ultimately saw herself in being able to capture. I think what Wendi did in her quest to hunt & bag the "big game", and greatly to her advantage, was not being afraid to dump previous relationships once those men's useful purpose had been served -(dumped/divorced Jake Cherry after she had received her undergrad education and obtained her green card; dumped/divorced David Wolf after he financed her Yale education). This required a woman who was calculating and thus allowed her to climb higher and higher (or dig deeper and deeper)

I don't know about others, but it doesn't offend me. I just don't find the mail order bride assertions to be accurate. Maybe I'm wrong, but my understanding of mail order brides comprise a specific demographic (poor, uneducated, women with lessor lofty goals than to become educated, head an empire, etc).

This doesn't make sense to me. Her parents are engineers. She was enrolled in medical college at 16. She stopped her studies when she met the sponsoring family when they lived in China. Whether she stayed in China or not, this woman was becoming educated. And no, I do not believe she would have enrolled herself in a mail order bride mag to get over here. Honestly, that's a silly thing to say. I work with dozens of people hailing from China, and no, these people did not need families to sponsor them or enroll in mags to get here. They're bright, educated scientists and it's a silly American attitude to make such assumptions about internationals.

I guess Anne Nicole Smith was a sharp woman as well as all the other ones who approach rich men as old as their father and marry them? She has sex with a married man who gave her a visa for the USA and breaks that marriage. Marries that guy and gets her green card. Get’s her education paid for and dumps him. Does what it takes to approach Mr. Murdoch and starts having an affair with him. Now she’s with him. Another marriage she breaks. If he meets a guy who can offer more $$$$ it seems she would be dumping Mr. Murdoch and "take the next step." Each guy she gets involved with has more than the one before.
Women using their vagina for riches, power, status, to take the next step, etc. has been seen since the beginning of humanity. It doesn’t mean ALL women do this but many do. Why sugar coat it?
I think stating many is over the top. Many would be hundreds of thousands. Lol
