Really? So the price of gold is still high, huh?

I've been meaning to check it out for a long time as I have a pretty massive tangled-up/broken chain I don't need, but I've been putting it off... But maybe I should... Who knows... maybe one day I might need it to get some food... Come to think of it, if it comes to a choice between gold and food, food probably will win...

Yup, look here:

Commodities - Oil, Silver and gold prices - CNNMoney

Gives you the daily exchange rate for commodities. It dropped a few bucks today, I beleive earlier floor rate was at $1735 and a few pennies.

He never wore the two things we exchanged. Not sure I am ready to part with things I still wear or that have sentimental value. If we NEEDED the money absolutely though!

ETA: You can google to find online calculators to translate the value of your karat weight. The buyer will always take a cut. I calculated the two items I brought in to be about $790 based on weight so it was a pretty decent exchange. He had the he highest exchange rate of the few places I went to.

So, how long has this bubble been going on? When is it about to burst?

I have quite a bit of gold, both jewelry and inherited coins, but I'm in the habit of keeping it for rainy days...

If someone knew the answer to that they would have more money than anyone. If you're thinking about it I woudn't ponder it too long.

Not sure when it's going to burst but I don't think it will just yet. It's a gamble though! I've read that the projected high is anywhere from $2K to $5K...depends on who you ask. Most of what I have read says it will continue to increase until the dollar gains value again. Who knows!

Speaking of unexpected windfalls I received my part of the class action settlement from Ebay. It was a check for 0.28.
