I've heard it said of people, including myself, who were being judgmental. Whether right or wrong, these people are sometimes cast as arrogant simply for giving an opinion with the word "should" in it. Oddly enough, the more rational you are being while giving your opinion, the more "arrogant" you seem. If you YELL at them whilst giving the same opinion, you're crazy but not arrogant.
I find it's not the other person acting superior but our perception of that person which is usually wrong because of our low self esteem.
It's like someone who lives at the Country Club and you thinking them and everyone who lives there must be a snob. In reality they are very nice people who struggle just like you and I.

It's not them, it's you.
Good point. I've witnessed many lower middle class people assuming that someone else is a snob just by the way they look + how much money they have. I like to laugh at examples of this in songs or movies that are supposed to have a moral; there's always a rich man in there that apparently values his money over love. He has to be told that money can't buy happiness and all that. I'm pretty sure that rich people still have that need for affiliation
It's subjective, so you really have to ask that particular person. Even something as trivial as not wanting to eat at a waffle house can make someone say that.
Condescending attitude. Arrogance. Treat people like they are "below" them. Acting superior, or above things.
