I just got out of an LDR, and we only saw each other twice a year for a few weeks, with about a 6 month gap in between. I couldn't handle it anymore, especially since I'm in Europe and she's in Japan.
Hats off to anyone who does the LDR I don't think I could do it. It must be extremely difficult and I believe the relationships that survive in this situation are definitely special.
I've never been in one myself, but my best friend has been in one for going on 2 years. He's in CA, she's in NY and every two months one of them visits the other for 2 weeks or so. Neither has a regular job and they both live with parents so getting the time and money to do that is easy for them.
He is planning on moving out east once he gets accepted at a university. He's 25 and she's 33.
Dated an Indian girl for 2 years and went about 5 months without seeing her. I ended it for a number of reasons ... she ended up not coming back to United States and now she's living in France. Funny thing, my other ex is in Paris too... lol
In my opinion, long distance is pretty useless and rarely accomplishes anything.
Forever, and that's how it will stay. I will never do another LDR ever again. I don't mind meeting girls online, but not long distance. You just never know how it will turn out or what the person is like.
I lasted 8 days in an LDR after we had been in a "typical" relationship for 365 days before that. It's just not for me, especially being so young.
