I don't think people are necessarily "pigging out" after they get married. I think three things happen:

1. As people age, especially if they marry and have children, their level of activity decreases. Kinda goes with having to work long hours to take care of families, and having less time to work out.

2. As people age, their body changes - you eat as much as you always have, but your metabolism slows down and the corresponding differences manifest themselves in more weight on your body.

3. Some people probably do pig out.

In my case, I always ate like a horse (or sometimes I did eat a horse), and was always overweight. On the other hand, until I hit my early 30s I was very, very physically active. Now I am not active - too busy working to feed kids - and I look as if I "let myself go". No choice in that matter.

You're already paying, and Obamacare has nothing to do with it.

Now that I have built in home entertainment, I am loathe to leave it (so I work out when she's not home)...and since I have a pal to eat with, meal times are more of an occasion. I love to cook, but I'd never do it just for myself. Now I do it all the time.

It's just different. I never went out to eat by myself. Now I have a built-in date...
This is us too. We love to cook together too. We both gained a little 'happy fat' and now we are busy losing it. It wasn't worth the effort to do a lot of cooking for one person. As a couple we just cooked and ate a bit too much. We aren't mean or judgmental with each other about it. It's just a fact we have to deal with and find balance again.

That's one of the reasons I dont see myself getting married

Damn, bro: Even I think that's a bit harsh.

And I'm a prick.

"loser freinds." LOL. Sounds like an old Diceman routine.

My brother played lacrosse in college and was 6-3 and weighed around 180 when he graduated.
Then got married five years ago. I saw him a couple months ago and he's put on 30 lbs. and is hopelesly addicted to Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia. LOL.
His wife was a college cheerleader and looks even better than she did in college and teaches Zumba and krav maga and could kick his ass around the block without breaking a sweat.

Go figure.
