You need to get out more! There are many women that wear bikini's at the lakes during the summer months. Guys that go shirtless and wear shorts too. People people people...Alaska is not all ice and snow!
Believe it or not...we get a lot of 70's, 80's and even 90 degree days in the summer! And we don't have any of the humidity like down south!

That's after you get acclimated and some people don't. If you watched Top Chef - Seattle, they came to Juneau in August I believe. They were wearing parkas and heavy coats. I was wearing my thin windbreaker and many kids and teens wore shorts and tees. Some teens wear shorts during the winter to showoff.
I don't know about being near Denver but I'm pretty rugged and manly, as you can no doubt tell from my milky pale skin, baby soft hands, stick like physique and conspicious lack of scars or tattoos.
