What if the job is minimum wage?

OP yes. If you are socially awkward and have a crummy job, chances are you will be single.

However, do note that you can easily change both situations. That is the beauty of your situation. You can change it.

Try telling that to a 5"2 guy.

Aren't most jobs crummy? After the relief of getting the job and the excitement of meeting new people and learning new things, routine sets in -along with a crappy schedule, office politics, possibly having to deal with the general public, etc.

I'd rather have a man who is real and works hard than one who is clueless about the folks who work under him and takes others/employees for granted.

It depends on where you are in life. If you are young than not really that much. If you are approaching your 30's than yeah, not many women will take you serious.

Where I live, any man with a job at least is considered desirable because of the many who don't even have that.

A guy with a lousy (or no) job can still get women provided he plays guitar in a band or some kind of artist or at least has an amazing personality. A socially awkward guy with nothing going for him and no job = not a chance. I should know, I'm one of them. I'm in my mid 30s and make $9 an hour and my only experience with women have been "paid" encounters with hookers. I have never had any male friends either.

Um, as a guitar player who was active in music for a while, I'll go on the record here by saying: No.

It's can be beneficial as an icebreaker. I don't have a link, but I recall reading about an experiment where the same men approached 100 women at a mall to get a phone number. The men approached empty handed, then with a guitar case, then with a gym bag. Results were guitar case 31, empty handed 16, gym bag 9.
