I posted my opinion already but I didn't think about people only wanting a "hook up", these type of women have very low morals and will have sex the first time they meet a man. I guess they expect to be fed and entertained if they are going to put out.

Ice cream and a walk sounds like a fun first meet up. Nothing different than coffee or a bar in my opinion. Shows that you don't have a local go to bar that you spend your days in. I cringe any time a guy offers up a bar for a first meet. I don't typically spend time in bars on my own much less to meet someone new.

I'd also wonder if the person inviting me had religious or moral issues about alcohol.

I'm not an ice cream fan; if I'm going to consume a massive amount of fat & calories, it's going to be something that I love. Others are lactose intolerant, dieting/watching their cholesterol, or may have teeth sensitive to cold.

Plus, ice cream parlors are often noisy, chaotic places, filled with loud children and sticky tables/chairs. Not an ideal environment for a date in my book. I'd be worried I was going to sit in a patch of melted strawberry swirl or ruin my purse when someone trips and dribbles hot fudge all over the place.
How so?

I'd rather go for ice cream than a bar or a place to drink alcohol, especially for a first date.
Hard liquor is nasty as far as I'm concerned.

The ice cream places in my community aren't overrun with teens.

And that's why I suggest the coffee/ice cream meet because you have to see if you click. Now if you do click then a guy would not have a issue paying because he is paying for dinner for a woman who he knows is interested in him

Understand what I mean?
I understood what you meant before you explained it. Yes, that's one of a few reasons why many people do coffee or drinks for the first date. Nothing wrong with that. That's different than ice cream, which is going to be seen as more of a children's activity. Some people might think it's fun as a quirky playful kind of thing (like going to see a Disney movie or going to an amusement park or playground), but many are going to find it odd for a first date.

I still don't think there are many women who go out with guys they're not interested in so they can get a free meal. If there are, I don't know them.

You are perfectly free to keep that chip on your shoulder and keep inviting grown women to meet you for ice cream. Just don't complain when you aren't getting the responses you were hoping for.

I think this is a regional thing. Ice cream consumption varies widely from region to region. Here in New England, there is one to two ice cream places in almost every neighborhood. Adults going out for ice cream is the norm. Other places it is a fringe thing probably only done with young kids. It also doesn't align with temperature at all.

You make a good point about region. Around here, ice cream shops are few and far between, DQ being the main one found in most towns/cities. That would definitely not be my idea of a first date.

I wouldn't make getting ice cream the destination for a first date. To me that would be a stop during the date of an afternoon in the park at a free concert, or a stroll on a boardwalk, after mini-golf, etc.

If I were younger and dating, I'd go for ice cream. I think it sounds different and fun.

Never looked at it that way. Interesting.
