This movie sucks ...

Socially awkward man finds compatible woman.
They dated.
The end.

Huh?

People date, older, younger, same age, etc... They also breakup. This isn't a recipe for something special.

I would think they blow it all on porn and subscriptions for online games.

Older man with Audrey Hepburn ingenue who is too naive to detect nonsense is a dynamic as old as the hills.

And if the 19-year-old were my daughter, I'd be having words with you. If she were 29 and you 39, that would be one thing, but at your age, 10 years is a bit predatory and exploitative. She hasn't even had a legal beer yet. You're nearly 30. Nope!

I have to disagree here. The 19 year old is a consenting adult and the 29 year old guy is probably more early 20s maturity in this case. Now a 39 year old guy with a 19 year old girl, different story.

That's fine. But I would not want my 19-year-old daughter coughing up the most expansive years of self-discovery, never mind get sidetracked as she gets her education, for a guy who already had time to have his fun and experience his growth. That he lacked the social skills to do so wouldn't be my concern. In fact, that would be just as bad, because I would find it unseemly for a 29-year-old to behave like a 21-year-old, with all the drama that often entails. If he has a maturity problem or a social problem, there are plenty of women closer to his age with the same. Don't try to fix your own problems on my daughter just as she is learning who she is and figuring out what to do with her life. You had your chance. Don't try to rob her of hers because she lacks the experience to see you for the problems you have.

Besides, even if they did end up together, that is exactly how gray divorce happens: A woman gives up the years she should be concentrating on herself and her dreams, settles down too young, and then when she hits her late 40s and the kids are grown and out of the house, she wakes up one day and wonders where she went in all of this.

i presume it is because 19 year olds and 29 year olds rarely run in the same social circles. IME 19 year olds are going to house parties , mostly with people their own age.

plus , even though some 19y/o girls are going to be OK with dating 10 years older, that isn't the norm

but , IMO there's nothing wrong with it. i actually did meet a 19 year old at a party, whenever i was 29, and tried to get her to go out with me. it didn't fly, though.
