Many threads on not being able to approach a person of the opposite sex or, more so now then ever it seems, how to get over the loss of a relationship or love in your life. Many posts can sympathize and others have the problem of way too much cockiness in their approach and both land in the same boat.

A lot of it can boil down to simple self esteem issues and Joyce Marter, Psychotherapist, has provided 10 Keys to Self Love:

"Healthy self-love is the balance between low self-esteem (a lack of self-love) and grandiosity (inflated, false self-love that is actually an overcompensation for a lack of true self-love).
The following are key strategies that are critical in practicing self-love":

LOL, it does, but it's still worthwhile.

EDIT: I think it's because some people may just do these things naturally, without thinking, but if you try to put it in words, it sounds like yet another list of cliché self-help quotes. It's taken me a long time to learn some/most of them from this list.

And yet, it's all true.

It's usually best not to knock something positive until you've at least tried it

Oh, I'll be sure to start on #1 right after I tell myself I love me and give me a biiiiiig hug

And of course most of it is true as it is common damn sense for the most part, sprinkled with a healthy dose of new age nonsense.

LOL. It is pretty much common sense, but, like I said in another of Thursday's threads, I can use the reminders once in a while.

And the best part of all, is that it's a non-troll thread. I'd post in it for that fact alone.

I don't see anything "new age" about it, but to each his own.

The important thing to remember is, common sense isn't so common with some of the posters we see here

And as always, the ones who read it and get it aren't the ones who actually need it. Those folks are too stuck spinning their wheels to do the work it takes to become healthy and whole.

I know, right?

It can be so sad to me when those of us trying to share what we've learned along the way - like we only wish someone had shared with us in our younger days! - are immediately dismissed by some of the very folks who need what we know the most!

It's so true, you can only bring a horse to water, you really can't make it drink.
