I've heard that the dating culture and romantic relationships are quite different between America and the Scandinavian countries. I know everyone is different but are there some general similarities or differences that are evident between American men and Scandinavian men in terms of dating? How is the dating scene different between American and the Scandinavian countries?
They don't date in Scandinavia. In many cases, sex comes first, then afterwards, if the couple agrees, they meet for coffee a couple of times, then after that they might start dating. But they don't call it "dating". Costs are split 50/50.
Weird, the comments in those articles (that have them) are a whole bunch of Swedish women who talk about how much better it is dating non-swedish men because they want all the chivalry, etc.
I found the dating in northamerica so much better but, I guess, so old-fashioned.
Be prepared to pay for your things and I mean even if you’re popping into a store to grab some candy, he’s not going to just pick up the tab for you.
my Swedish girl friends told me many Swedish guys are so afraid of commitment…which is sooo true!
I once went on a date with a Swedish guy and he didn’t even pay for my coffee!!! I got really offended
One of them used to text me (no joke) every half hour all day long. Exhausting. Also, the first time the other one wrote “puss puss” I was like “WTF!”
And then the American women pop on talking about how much better Swedish men are.
America has more breakdowns, but less solo parts... Somewhat heavier but with less hooks and groove. Scandinavia is a bit more melodic, but with the vocals pushed further back, more ambiance and better produced, but also more odd-timed, less structured, and intricate.

There a whole range of patterns. Some teenagers seem to start out exploring sex in a pretty adventuresome way with little attachment, aimed mainly at having fun with multiple partners and then branch into serial sex with a series of partners, in which the are relatively faithful to each other...and, if they are lucky, one of these relationships can blossom into a long-term committed relationship. Danish men can also falter a bit in the process because there are so many alternatives available to them.
That's not just Scandinavian dating, but I'd expand this mindset to all of Northern, Central, Western Europe. And it's not feminism (I hate the term, and the idea) that is behind all that. Instead, men and women have become more equal in their socioeconomic status, and I have to say, men have been dealing with that a helluva lot better than they would ever in States. In general. Exceptions are everywhere. I still have my training wheels on in learning to date American men, and actually stopped dating as a result. The last relationship faltered because I made more money than he did, I was supposed to submit to him, and he be in charge of pretty much everything.

That's not the norm, btw. It sounds like you happened to get a jerk, and possibly a future abuser.

I've heard that dating (and life in general) for men is terrible in Scandinavian countries. I've heard that laws are even more heavily slanted towards females than they are here and just about anything can get men arrested or fired from their jobs.
Of course, this is just heresay, but it makes sense since these countries are very socialism-inclined.
