I've only had bad experiences with asking guys out, so I won't do it again. I don't feel like it's worth it for me to ask. I lose interest in them if I have to.
Then don't expect him to ask you out since you won't do it.
Both times I have asked guys out, it was in a similar situation to this (not at Starbucks), and I was rejected. I don't think that I am ugly at all, and I only did it after they seemed interested. Now I think it is because I come off to strong by asking men out. I want to avoid this altogether. If I was rejected by this barista (or if he did not call me), I would not go into Starbucks again. I would emerge more upset than anything. The rejection is not worth it, essentially.
Is being rejected worse than getting a "yes", then discovering on the date he's totally the wrong guy for you? That's usually what happens.
A woman at my college tried this game playing nonsense with me last semester. I knew she was interested, but I didn't ask her out because she felt entitled that a man should pursue her. I don't play games with women at all. Maybe this guy senses the same thing and doesn't ask the op out.

You were a barista? Quick how do you make a skinny vanilla macchito?
Based upon my 400+ visits to 25+ different Starbucks I can say the following: 1. If you are going to do something do it quickly, the turnover rate is astronomical, 2. I estimate 40% of men working at Starbucks are gay. 3. They almost all work part time, thus, you would have to go everyday to see him twice a week.
