Hi all,
My full question isn't quite so straight forward. My boyfriend has been very open to me about the fact that he used to use drugs, specifically smoking ice. Since we have been together, he has (supposedly) been clean and has also quit smoking. He has, however, used what he has told me is fake or synthetic tobacco to help him in the process of quitting cigarettes.
I am a little naive in this area as I have never smoked or used drugs myself. What I find hard to believe about his story, is that this "fake tobacco" doesn't look anything like tobacco. It is clear/milky and shaped in small crystals, just as I presume crystal meth must look. He smokes it in a crack pipe and it is odourless. It is always in tiny little clear bags. He once bought one of these bags for $50 from a "friend". As I write this, I feel like I am an idiot and my instincts tell me I am being taken for a ride.
I find it hard to believe that what I have just described to you is just artificial tobacco- why doesn't it look like tobacco? Why no packaging? Why the high price? His answer was that they sell it to him like that at a market, and then he makes me feel bad that I am questioning him about it.
For those who know, please tell me, is it plausible for fake tobacco to come in the form I have described? As I honestly don't know anything about such products myself, I feel I should give him the benefit of the doubt, and find out for sure, before I go accusing him any further. I had no idea where to turn to find out such information.

Artificial tobacco doesn't (necessarily) look exactly like tobacco.
It also doesn't look anything you describe.
But damn, you can't tell he's high after using it?!
Anyway, this is not fake tobacco.
Oh, big PS: for someone that is "naive" about drugs, to know what a "crack pipe" looks like and have an idea what meth looks like, well... that claim of naivete isn't very plausible.

Watching an episode of Breaking Bad would let somebody know what a crack pipe and meth look like.
Maybe that's because I've been looking up pictures on google to try and get an answer? Maybe socialised by the media, constantly reading about how ice has become such an epidemic in today's society? Either way, it's something I've always steered clear of and intend to continue to steer well clear of.
I said I was naive, not stupid.
In relation to being high, my boyfriend has schizo-affective disorder and so is often in a strange state because of the very strong medication he takes, so an altered state is not much for me to go on. Also, I read the affect it has on people can vary.
you find it hard to believe?...You'd have to be the biggest fool in the world to believe that trumped up story.
He's lying...flat out!!!!
I don't know what kinda ride he's taking you for...but it's a definite ride....sorry
