As other posters have alluded to, most people's shortcomings are already there if you really want to see them. I would say you are the exception to the rule. In general, men just are not as gung ho about marriage as women.

I agree to some extent, but you can't know how someone is entirely unless you live with them day in and day out. You just can't (in my opinion anyway).

Sure, it's one thing to have your own place and go out on dates and what not, but it's another to live with them everyday. IF I'm going to get married, I'd definitely want to know we can be compatible while living together.

Some disagree with that for whatever reason, and it's fine, but that's how I feel when it comes to this.

Living together after you are engaged would solve that problem and flush out any deal-breaking surprises.

I was wondering how is going with your situation. because right now I am exact what you were dealing with. my boyfriend and I have been dating for 3 years in his country. my boyfriend does not understand the visa situation or there is more process to merry since I am a foreigner. If you can give me some advise, that would help me get out this anxious situation. Thank you
