I know someone who married someone from another country without ever meeting in person or even visited other's country. They met online. The wife is moving here in 2 years after the immigration process. Have you heard of this being successful? just curious for other people's opinion
I don't think the issue is marrying someone from another country. The risk is that they are doing so without ever meeting and spending time with each other.
Haha, have you ever seen Picture Bride? That's exactly what you're talking about. They married based on pictures without ever meeting. On the wedding night, the woman comes to find the man had that picture taken 20 years ago. ROFL. I mean, not to scare you or anything. I'm sure your bride will be fine.
There are a lot of appealing factors about non-Western women. Women from Latin American, Asian, or Eastern European countries have more a traditional view of sex roles, and that can be appealing. I would be open to a relationship with a non-Western woman, but I don't plan to travel to a foreign country to find one. I also won't do the entire courtship process online. I need the in-person experience right away.
By reading the last thread where a guy ended up in a double-wide with multiple kids microwave burrito broke...I'm hesitant in coupling up with a foreigner.

My father married my mother. Just having a spouse born in another country doesn't mean much overall.....it's having unrealistic expectations of the other and not communicating issues honestly that is the problem. Cultural differences can be spice or vinager...it's up to the couple to decide.

Again....it's not the fact that they were from different countries that is the problem there.

wait what happened? I know of the reverse happening quite a bit, poor girls from other countries marrying a westerner, and expecting the streets to be paved with gold, only to find they live in worse conditions in the US than they did in their home country.

In all honesty, I just could not see myself marrying a foreign born woman. I struggle with accents a lot so communication could very well be an issue. Also, I'm not very religious and the immigrants I live around tend to be very religious so that make it even less likely.
