Never quite understood why people remain in contact with their ex-boyfriend/girlfriend (wife, married)

They're still harboring feelings.

Boredom.

Sex.

It's typically not a BFF they're looking for. Of course, there's parental friendship, but that's not what we're talking about here.

And I can't imagine that my husband would contact with his ex-wife.

But we have such friends. Two of them were a couple for some time. But then they broke up. And he is married now to another girl.
Meanwhile they are still friends. And I think that was very hard to his wife. All those mentioning and so on.

Loneliness.

Boredom.

Insecurity.

Remorse.

Sexual frustration.

Just to name a few. I don't talk to the men I used to have feelings for anymore. My feelings would only come back for ONE guy in particular, and that would just put me back in a place I DO NOT want to be.

I understand it it cases where:

- Things ended civilly
- Things ended long, long ago
- There are extenuating reasons for continued contact ( you are coparenting, you work together, etc.

Agree completely. Exes are exes for a reason. No reason for any contact.
