Counter to my resolution to not date this year, I discovered zoosk, and put myself out there. The site is quite active, even for my area. However, I find that I get many repeat visits from men, multiple visits from the same person within a day, and over days, yet no message. Now, for me it registers as them not wanting to waste a message for potentially no response, so they lurk, in the hopes I will contact them first. Now, those I do contact, and who may not be amongst the repeat visitors, won't respond.
Is this the new thing on dating sites? Is there anything to know about zoosk that is noteworthy?
You have to pay on Zoosk to see the messages. I think for some you can see the first few messages but I'm guessing those people are lurking until they find someone they think is worth paying the website for. That's what I did and I never ended up paying. I thought it was too much. But I somehow ended up getting somebody's number on there for free. Don't remember how I did it.
I don't know if the people are actually multiple viewing or if the site generates the views after one view. The match section was awful. I was matched with men who had nothing in common or who lived far from my stated distance. Don't waste your money on Zoosk.
I agree on the match selection. It's very basic, and meaningless. There's lots of stuff that I find a bit juvenile, such as the coins, or the gifts, things other sites have done away with over time. I did find a broader and higher quality dating pool there, though, and cannot imagine that a majority of those profiles are fake. But it gives me pause to think that those "viewed you" alerts could be fake to generate some traffic.
I'm pretty sure it's a scam. Every now and then I'll get an email saying so-and-so sent you a message (or a wink) and it's always some ridiculously attractive woman.
Well, according to the dating sites reviews for 2015, Zoosk ranks #2 on at least one review site, topped by Match.
I give it a little more time, but so far, nothing of significance materialized, but neither did it on all the other sites when I was on them in the past. People just want to chat and be fluffy. No real effort behind any.
