As I sit here on a Saturday bumming around the house and experiencing just a tad bit of "I wish I had someone to spend some time with"...

...at the same time I recognize I don't get out enough. (Disclaimer: Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to be at home lounging around today.) Granted, I commute like 4.5 hours 4 days a week for work and am often drained once the weekend comes. On top of that, being a homebody in a city that has like 12 weeks of decent weather tends to make me one of those people that simply does.not.get.out.much.

With that said, my other random thought for the day was....where is everybody over the age of say 30 meeting people nowadays?

How did you meet your spouse or significant other?

Also OkCupid. I'd been on there since 2004 and we didn't meet till late 2010, so it definitely wasn't a "log on, find husband". :-p

Great introduction to the thread LOL.

Pretty much the pub/bar scene for me, infact it's press conference worthy if I meet one outside that arena judging from my experience .

Yeah I 100000000% get your situation and am currently in the same boat with doing the hours at work recently so I'm knackered and have no energy to enjoy life as much as I'd certainly like ( disclaimer: it's all overtime so not compulsory but I'm sure the extra £££ would come in handy for the " summer " we have here )

I'm 31 and still doing pretty much the same as I was when I was 18 in regard to dating

This.

We were 35 and 40 at the time, both having been in LTRs but never married, no kids.

How interesting that several posters have met their loved ones online. I met my wife in person at a home inspection. I hired her to inspect a home I was thinking of purchasing with my now ex. While she was inspecting the house, I spend most of the time inspecting her! She was courteous, thorough, and professional, but after the inspection, I couldn't stop thinking about her. We ended up not buying the house and I found another one and hired her to inspect that one as well. The second inspection clinched the deal; I liked her a lot and decided to abandon my plan of buying a home with my jerk ex, or continuing to be with the ex at all, for that matter. We broke up, I moved out, and 18 months later, my wife and I married. It's so strange how life works. I never knew it at the time, but I was never looking for a house in the first place; just someone better to share my home with
