I dont mean cheating, flirting, controlling or anything

Sometimes spats happen. Bf leaves clothes on floor after shower. Girl takes too long to get reayd

their little spats that end up becoming a huge deal and people break up

Why

Why let such a small thing ruin what could be a great relationship?

Because it wasn't about the clothes on the floor or taking too long to get ready.
How old are you? I'm going to guess that you are in your early 20s at most.

They don't give up. They whine for a while, then go back to it.

Default Why do some people give up when the rlationship gets tough?

Because they're not...tough that is.

It's either that or they're not taking it seriously and don't want to put the effort in to it to make it work.

maybe they weren't really attracted to the person anymore and using a trivial issue as an excuse to break up?

Because they have entered the second stage of the relationship, the one after the romance phase, where they start to notice the flaws and irritating behavior, and many relationships don't progress past this phase because there is fear, anger, etc. This is the stage where one of the couple pulls away, and the other one is left scratching their head wondering what happened, or trying to chase after the distancing partner. People who develop this pattern of relationships will continue to up sticks the moment something gets less than rosy, because the alternative would be to have to face their own shortcomings in the relationship and trying to improve themselves in the process.

Exactly!

From the outside in it's always easy to judge.

No point in staying in a relationship with someone who complains about everything you do. Better to end it and be happy with life.
