Having not been in a relationship for more than 6 years now, I'm slowly warming up to the idea of putting myself back out there in the dating scene.
A friend of mine told me of a Lock and Key event which will be taking place locally in a couple of weeks. From what I understand, all the women will have padlocks and the men will have keys and approach the women, trying to match the key with the right padlock. Every successful match gets an entry to win a prize.
The idea behind it as I see it is to mingle and approach and meet as many women as possible.
Kinda sounds intriguing, but still on the fence on whether or not to attend. Has anyone been to one of these singles events? What was your experience? What should I expect if I decide to go?
Any assurance or history at all as to whether the gender split will make it worth it?
Way too many times, more women show up for things like this but hardly any men.

If that's the case, then it will definitely be worth it for me.
Seriously though, I have no idea of the gender split or what to expect at all which is why I started this thread. Years ago, I did attend two speed dating events. One had an equal number of men and women, the second one had more men than women.
I should note that the age ranges for this particular event are 35-59. At 47, I'm smack dab in the middle of that range.
Wow they had these back in my day... except they went the cheaper route and had a bunch of different size nuts and bolts. Predictably, women take the nuts, guys take the bolts. This was done at a regular club, it wasn't a dating event - but it did seem to encourage interaction between strangers. Everyone had an excuse to walk up to someone else and start a conversation, which is half the battle for some people.
I have done a couple I mentioned them on here before I would totally try it if I was you. The ones I went to they did not appear to control the M:F ratio which is kind of lame but it's still worth a shot. I even won the cash door prize once.

Reminds me of the Hollywood Squares game from late 80s where the winning contestant would get a set of keys hoping to win a 1988 Chevrolet Berreta or other clsssic American cars from that era. If the key worked, they woukd win the car
Do it. You have nothing to lose (other than the $20).
I did single mingling events. Tons of unattractive guys and few, mostly pretty women. If you are not extremely shy and unattractive, you have a good chance.
