I think it has far more to do with the fact that so many men just fail to:

1) Be equal partners in a marriage.
2) Keep growing in life. I know plenty of guys who are arrested adolescents.

I find society is creating a new crop of people who are unable to fully love and put in the work.

Too many people nowadays are depressed, overmedicated, and give up too easily. Things and people have become too easily disposable.

Ho hum.

And yet people continue to marry, and 70% of first marriages endure.

I absolutely LOATHE these types of generalizations about society. It's lazy and anti-intellectual.

My first thought.

Think this is more about strong women and men who can't handle them so they whine.

I'd agree with this. I long for a man that I can lean on and trust to handle things in an adult way so that I can take the more "feminine" role as the article states, but that just hasn't been the case.

Yay. Another pseudo-intellectual spewing thinky thoughts about gender essentialism and bemoaning the loss of forced gender roles in modern society.

Ho-freaking-hum.

I gladly embrace the idea of a strong, independent woman who takes on an equal stake in our relationship. I'm glad that my GF and I split most things 50/50 and she doesn't heavily depend on me to take care of her 100% of the time. We lean on each other when it's needed, and we support one another when it's needed. I would personally not want any other kind of relationship.
