I took 6 months off from dating after I got out of an almost 7 year relationship. I think it was really good for me, it gave me a chance to reconnect with my friends and think about what I really want out of a relationship before I jumped into anything new. I think a little time for yourself is a great idea!
I say do what is right for you...if you need time, take it. If you force it too soon, its not going to be great anyway. Have fun and take care of yourself for awhile.
