One of the biggest mysteries for me is someone's voice. You talk to a stranger on the phone, the voice is so delicious to the ears, you start to form an image of that person from that voice, and then when you meet that person: HOLY COW! You can hardly believe it that such a beautiful voice emanates from someone so unlike the image that was formed of that person.
Having been in the massage business in the past, someone would call, I'd try so hard to imagine that person based on their voice only, and when they appeared at my house, over and over again, surprise, surprise!
Has anyone ever been able to connect a voice to a body accurately?
And the biggest surprise comes from that lady on England's talent show....all over the news. She's a homebody alright and claims to have never been married or even kissed...
but what a voice! You can see the heavens open when she sings!
Has anyone ever been able to connect a voice to a body accurately?
Anyone with a job like mine, has this experience repeatedly. There is NO relationship in real life. I think that TV has created or at least greatly increased this bias. Few get exposure anymore who aren't both good looking and who also sound pleasing.
I have tried to match a face with a voice many times and have been shocked every single time when I meet them in person. Phone voice is so deceiving. I am a telelphone operator, I often wonder if ppl on the other line are trying to get a visual.

I was going to post a similar topics. I think, a certain voice on a good looking person either: (a) becomes more attractive or (b) stands out in contrast to that person, depending on how 'bad' it sounds. I think we expect attractive people to have attractive voices: sultry, or deep or resonant or whatever. Anyway, it's pretty hard to connect a voice to a body, but (no offense) fatter people often have deeper more resonant voices, which is better for low range singing.
I wonder what twinkle sounds like. A lady who works in the accounting dept. at my dealership, is very milf-a-licious but she sounds like a demon. Like in those movies in which the possessed person sounds like both, a man and a woman talking at the same time. I hate calling her, she scares me.
I had a business acquaintance in LA with whom I spoke on the phone at least 2-3 times a week. She had the most incredibly sensuous voice I've ever heard. I mean Beth's voice just dripped sex. I never heard anybody make Beta testing of software seem so erotic. Over time, we just hit it off, cracked jokes, whatever, while keeping things strictly professional.
So, finally, I have to fly out to her offices for a group meeting. I was picturing this exotic woman with supple pouting breasts, clingy and insubstantial attire, and a delicious sway to her hips. Instead, it was a 300 pound redhead with crooked teeth and coke-bottle glasses, wearing a really unflattering polyester pantsuit.
I gave up trying to be Dr. Frankenstein years ago...building bodies then putting strange voices on them... just so they can use the phone and make people wonder... Its too much of a hassle and poeple just dont get it anymore...sheesh! (Besides, the health care is outrageous for the upkeep of zombies that dont quite make American Idol-->they get so heart broken every time!)...
May the LORD Bless each of you.
I wish you well...
Jesse
