The "half your age plus seven rule" or "double your age minus 7" is generally what is socially acceptable.

DOUBLE your age less 7??? No freaking way. WAY too old. And the other is too young.

I think 10 years would be the limit for me. DH is 8 years older and the relationship works perfectly.

The thing that would get to me is the thought that I graduated before she was even in kindergarten. Or that she was old enough to be my mother...or my kid. Nope.

Could you see yourself in a relationship with someone who is twenty years older or younger? Or is that just a Hollywood situation or a woman who wants a sugar daddy?

How many years difference in age would cause you to feel ill at ease?
I could see about 20 years. When you hit the 30 year mark it is way too much.

It's MY math. No more than 5 years older, no more than 10 years, or so, younger. That better??

It's up to the couple but it's obvious that not many older janitors or gardeners get hot young babes to parade around with. The bigger the age gap, the bigger the sugar daddy aspect.

My parents are 12 years apart and have been married since 1964. Maybe this is why I tend to like younger women. Not sure but I have always gotten along better with them, maybe less baggage from past relationships.

yeah give me yet another reason to figuratively kick this locale...

I'll start off by saying quite a few men in my family married older women- some were much older...
but to clarify both points there: "men" as in well-grounded, some well-educated, adults who met women they got along with, cared for, and regarded as "the person they wanted to spend their life with." in most cases these 'relationships' lasted.
probably because they didn't have what I snidely refer to as "mommy issues," and it wasn't "about sex."

however- I come to this locale, where many do have an assortment of weird "issues," and "getting it" is nearly everyone's #1 focus, and it's extremely different: perverts & predators not only come in all ages, they're in both genders.

so for the initial question, it depends on where you're at with yourself & your motives.
