The other thread I started regarding online dating raised another issue I have encountered, but with people in general.

As a rule, I never give out too much info about myself up-front with the online dating thing. In general, I don't open up too easily or share too much on a personal level. I'm not one to discuss finances, problems or share details of my entire life with a bunch of people. I'm not a leaner. Because of this, I have been called mysterious or secretive or they think I automatically have some deep dark scandal or secret I am trying to hide. It's not because I do that they think this. It's more like an overblown sense of entitlement or need to think the worst. People just love scandal and the misfortune of others. Call is secretive or sneaky, I have a right to my privacy.

Know what I mean, beans?

Nope, could you give detailed specifics of what you're referring to about your background?

I don't know. I might have an issue, gets up in the middle of the night, comes back smelling like the Hershey factory, I'd be afraid I'd try to gnaw off one of her arms in my sleep.

Hmmm. Secretive...

Are they asking you your mothers maiden name or your actual age/height?

What exactly are they asking you for?

There has to be trust for private information, and that comes WAY down the line, never in a profile or early meeting.
