Tonight my friend said that it looked like I would take sh*t from guys (ie-cheating, etc.) I have no idea why she said that? I'm not as forward as she is...what do you think she implied by that?

when i hear that expression, i think it means you are willing to put up with most things regardless of how awful it might have been.

You'd probably know better than we do. Are you typically pretty tolerant of unacceptable behavior?

I would ask your friend what she meant by that. Who knows maybe she was joking around and it came out wrong.

Girls can be a little catty sometimes. It could also be you are kind of a doormat and she wanted to tell you casually. Do you take crap from people?

Well, I'm pretty patient, I grew up in a military family so I'm used to being given orders...

I've gotten the "doormat" thing from more than 1 person, I am trying to be more assertive though...but it's really not my nature, I'd rather avoid confrontation @ all costs...I know it's not possible but I just detest conflict

LOL....I hear ya. But there's a difference between taking orders/avoiding conflict and being a doormat. Maybe your friend sees this in you and feels a little tough love is in order?

Perhaps, if there is no good example to support this assertion, she is just type casting you, based on her overall impression.

The world of relationships is full of such nonsense:

frugal = cheap

shy = unfriendly

informed = elitist

ambitious = overbearing (sometimes true)

not an a$$ kisser = not solicitous enough

Men probably get this treatment more than women since women are more likely to be looking closely for "red flags" and will often grab at any little thing. Those who aren't attractive get the royal treatment, since people are desperate to rationalize their decision to immediately reject them.
