this thread and the responses to it are exactly why I was really suprised by the responses I got from a thread I started in the parenting section about my son who seems to be having gender confusion issues....almost EVERYONE who replied (and there were alot) said...oh, just let him be who he is....well...this is why I don't agree with that philosophy...seems to me he would very likely be alone and therefor unhappy for the rest of his life if he chose to take his gender confusion to it's ultimate conclusion later in life, (i.e. having a sex change or living as a transexual).

Unfortunately, it seems as if your son would possibly be alone whether he has a sex change/lives transgendered or not.

he is only five...his path is not yet written in stone..which is why I am trying to take him to counseling and trying to steer him toward more gender appropriate actions, etc.
Ever watch those Maury episodes with "were they born men or women?"....I saw just one of those and it scarred me for life. Not because I have a problem with transgender people, but because I couldn't tell with a few of them.

OK, that makes things a little different. What makes you think he has gender issues, and what would you like to see happen?
