This is when banter should come into play IMO... but yeah I agree. If I asked where the gal worked (of course if I didn't know where) then that's an automatic flag. But that would have to depend on how much you really know and trust each other.

but i never understood why the phone was a problem if i'm telling them they can block their number when they call me.

Anyway, she's probably more comfortable on IM. Maybe she's not confident speaking on the phone so early in the 'relationship'. Your response is argumentative and is not conducive to a good start.
