My guess after perusing that same website is marriage age. Americans, in addition to having the highest divorce rate marry the youngest. Lets face it young people, myself included (though I have never married), make mistakes.

People here marry and marry and marry. This society has a problem with being single and they think it's "smarter" to rush into a marriage than to simply live together. The stats reflect this.

In Europe, people live together and don't feel as impelled to marry. And being single is a viable option, as well.

per op
if they got 1/2 million for slapping around old baldy with a divorce lawyer, they would have 50% divorce too.

I think we live in a very instant, got to have it now society where the next guy is always to blame. We like it easy and in America it is easier to get divorced than it is to stay married.

Because we are the most self-centered people in the world and among the most romantic. Bad combination.

I'm really ROFLMAO at the latter! Most men here have NO CLUE how to be romantic and seductive! No arguing with the former, though.
