I guess it's a comfortable position though. You know, to have all the messes cleaned up for you.

True, if you have no soul. But ultimately you would be roundly despised by everybody, which means it's ultimately much less comfortable in the long run.

I didn't read any of this thread but the OP. I agree, what IS so wrong with being immature?

SO WHAT if you don't want to get married and have kids?
SO WHAT if you don't want a relationship?
SO WHAT if you're happy to rent a home instead of shouldering the responsibility of a mortgage?

Do these things make you a bad person?

1 LIFE and its yours.

That's not immaturity. That's independence. The two are utterly different qualities.

Immaturity is when someone has not emotionally developed enough to function on their own. As in not planning ahead, being terrible with money. Not being considerate of other people's time or feeling.

^^ but don't you find that if you told people you don't want those things I mentioned the response would be "He/she needs to grow up and stop being so immature"?

Well, if somebody tells you that, simply say, "I'm independent, not immature. I pay my own way in life, don't I?" That typically shuts them up.

Being immature is like being a kid, right? But what's wrong with that?
Kids have fun, they laugh a lot, they are happy, they don't worry about a lot of stupid issues. Immature person stays young forever, in a way.
In that sense rock'n'roll was all about being immature.
So please, tell me why are people so against it?
It's not a reflection of a happy-go-lucky character.

Maturity is wanted and desired because it's how you handle situations, your capacity to realize there is a time to laugh and a time to be serious, your emotional and mental development...

OP,
If you take full responsibility for all your choices, then in my opinion you are mature.
Contrary to what people think, maturity has nothing to do with taking responsibility for others unless you choose that path. Then by not doing so you are immature.
