What in American society cultivates the vast numbers of christian weirdos? Is it the education system? Traditions? Parents? Peer Pressure?
Because most other countries don't tolerate religious bullying.

The belief that America's current moral climate is a result of the Puritan's is, in my opinion, a myth.

For the most part, the Puritan's descendants are some of the most liberal and tolerant peoples in America and even their churches, now called Congregational, are often very liberal, not only ordaining women, but also gays.

Does it have to do with the worship and inclusion of the Almighty Dollar and the religious quest for material wealth? Seriously, if you want to make money in America, start a religion. (Worked for Bob Tilton and others)

Default It's easy!

Bingo, LKC! As with real estate and banking, there's some good ol' legal loopholes that make it a profitable (and wildly so) business to get into, and as well, we have sufficiently illiterate peon-sheeple masses that, applying the Mcdonald's model ("We only have to make a little bit on the literal multi-millions of them to make a real killing!") leads to vast wealth with no consequences. Just check out Bennie Hinn!

Im not a Christian but let me just say that you are avery disrespectful person. You may think that Christians are weirdos but that is because you only hear about the weird ones i.e. Westboro Baptist Church, IFB. The nice, sane, polite ones dont sell news papers and get ratings. Unfortunant

Really? Where have you been? The weirdos, and there are many of them, possibly even a majority in some states get elected to political office, (Your past two presidents) teach in schools, make some laws, etc. In my opinion the Christian loonies are the ones that believe in a literal bible, reject evolution in favor of creation, believe in the rapture myth, etc. Why would you think that these beliefs deserve respect?

They do not need to be as extreme as the WBC to qualify, after all George Bush claimed that God told him to invade Iraq, and his father was no better in my opinion. Particularly after saying this.... “No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered as patriots. This is one nation under God.”

Visvaldis was just stating the facts. I don't see that he went out of his way to be disrespectful of Christians in general.

All one has to do for many Christians to claim that you are being disrespectful is say that you don't follow their religious beliefs. That doesn't stop them doing the same to others of a different religious belief to them of course...which, for some strange reason, they don't consider to be disrespectful.
