Have you asked they why they think that? I wondered whether it was a way of getting around one aspect of the 'problem of evil'
If God watches every sparrow fall, why does he allow some people to be murdered? There are some sophisticated answers to that (I suspect we get some of them now) but an unsophisticated one might be that God compensates the murdered for His allowing of the evil of murder by rewarding the victim with a complimentary ticket to heaven.

Not according to Conservative, Evangelical Christianity. You must accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior to go to heaven. This is why its perplexing when Christians bring up murderers as a justification of eternal punishment, when in fact according to their faith a murderer's victims are just as likely to go to hell as the murderer.

If you are saved, yes and only if you are saved, how you die has nothing to do with where you spend eternity.
