In this tough economy where people can't get jobs, are bordering on bankruptcy, homelessness, despair, suicide, etc., why does God seem so absent? Why do pleas for financial help, dream careers, stability, luck, etc. all go unanswered?
Why does there have to be some magic formula to receive help? People act like, oh you didn't pray hard enough, you didn't have enough faith, etc. but are those grounds for God never answering those people? Isn't it understandable that people have doubts/weak faith when they are struggling?
He does. He sends people to relieve you of your money, because if you are rich, it is harder for you to get into heaven than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle.

G-d hears your prayers for more money. But sometimes the answer is "no."
We all are being given exactly what we need. If you are ungrateful for what you have, no matter how small that amount may be, you should look inwards and see if you can sharpen your own personal traits.
One more thought to add. If you are without money and times are tough, what should you do? Pray to G-d, of course. That in itself is proof that G-d loves you and desires your prayers. If He is annoyed by you or doesn't want a personal relationship with you, He'll give you a bunch of money so you you'll pray less and leave Him alone.
BTW, this and the last post are classic Jewish views on money and the relationship of it and our prayers to G-d.

Don't understand that. Having to go into bankruptcy or being under extreme amounts of stress living paycheck to paycheck and not being able to pay bills is exactly what we need?
