Many people assume that since Cain traveled east then the way that we should travel is the opposite. But I don't think that is the case. God is said to be east, in the rising sun. He blows like a wind from the east.

The west represents the old ways, the setting sun. It is the past and is dying, just like our sins of the past.

Adam and Eve were also driven eastward by God. There was a flaming sword on the east side of the garden which meant that they could never again go back to where they were before. They would need to find a new way to God.

It is true that Cain killed his brother, but so has each one of us. Anyone who has ever felt hate has also committed murder.

Feeling hate is not murdering. Taking a stone and crushing your brothers skull like a grapefruit is murder. The murder occurred the moment the head exploded. jmo

Few men understand the violent nature of Cain. Some say a man would have to grow up in a violent childhood environment to understand his plight and nature.

They will follow the LORD; he will roar like a lion. When he roars, his children will come trembling from the west.

From the book Children's Letters to God by Stuart Hample, Eric Marshall and Tom Bloom (Illustrator):

Dear God, Maybe Cain and Abel would not have killed each other if they had their own rooms. That’s what my Mom did for me and my brother. Larry

What people do counts for much more than what people think and believe. The very idea that a person could live without committing a single sin except for stealing a pack of gum could go to hell while a mass murderer could go to heaven just based on internal beliefs is absolutely ridiculous to me. I'm glad the legal system agrees. I would much rather someone hate me than smash my head with a rock. But that's just me.

It's better to cast a Hex/Spell/Jinx, and damn me to Hellfire for all eternity, than to take a rock and smash my head like a grape.
